This 3D-printed Museum Replica is based on an Attic funerary relief dated to about 430–400 BCE and now kept in the Altes Museum, Berlin. The original marble relief shows a woman attended by a female servant, while sirens appear above the scene. That contrast between calm domestic presence and funerary symbolism is what gives the work its particular character. Associated with the name Mynno through its inscription, the relief belongs to the refined tradition of Classical Athenian grave monuments, where restraint, order, and social identity were expressed through carefully controlled form rather than dramatic emotion.
Replica Measurements (Nylon): 6.7 × 14 cm (2.64 × 5.51 in)
Replica Measurements (Metals): 2.4 × 5 cm (0.94 × 1.97 in)
The original relief was carved in marble and measures 59 × 29 × 6 cm (23.2 × 11.4 × 2.4 in). In its ancient context, it functioned as a grave monument, shaping memory through image, inscription, and symbolic detail. In replica form, it offers access to an important example of late Classical memorial sculpture, with its combination of dignified female imagery, attendant figure, and sirens marking the threshold between life and death.
The Attic Funerary Relief of Mynno is available in several materials, each with distinct qualities:
White Nylon
A polished nylon option with a smoother surface to the touch. This is the most economical material choice and offers a clean, clear reading of the relief’s forms and details.
Black Nylon
A durable nylon material finished with Color Touch treatment after printing. This process provides a uniform black surface, strong resistance to scratching and rubbing, and stable, consistent colour across production batches.
Bronze
Produced through a metal casting process based on a 3D-printed master model. This material gives the replica an elegant metallic appearance and a strong, classical presence.
Gold-Plated Brass
Cast from a precisely made master model and finished in gold-plated brass. This option gives the relief a more elevated decorative character while retaining the structure of the original design.
White Rhodium-Plated Brass
Created through the same casting method and finished in white rhodium-plated brass. The result is a refined metal surface with a bright, elegant appearance.
Please note that objects too large for the production process in a given material may be produced at a smaller scale than the original.
