This Museum Replica faithfully recreates the Bidri Basin, a historic sailabchi vessel dating to circa 1650 from Bidar, Karnataka, India. The original, now in the collection of the Cleveland Museum of Art, is a classic example of Bidriware, the renowned metalcraft tradition of the Deccan region. The wide-rimmed basin is covered entirely in a continuous floral arabesque pattern composed of stylized lotuses, peonies, intertwining vines, and geometric elements. These motifs, rendered in silver for the primary flowers and vines and brass for golden accents and border highlights, stand in high contrast against the characteristic matte black patina of the zinc-alloy ground.
Available Materials for the Bidri Basin:
– White Nylon
Polished finish for a smooth tactile surface. This is the most cost-effective option, providing clean detail reproduction with a neutral, matte appearance.
– Black Nylon
Post-printing treatment followed by Color Touch finish yields high resistance to scratching, rubbing, and external conditions. The surface quality is smooth and consistent, offering an excellent approximation of the original Bidriware patina.
– Bronze, Gold-Plated Brass, White Rhodium-Plated Brass
Produced via metal casting from a 3D-printed wax master model. A plaster mold is formed around the master, and molten metal is injected to replace the wax, resulting in solid cast-metal parts with an elegant, high-fidelity finish. These options provide a metallic sheen and weight that closely approximates the luster and visual depth of the original silver and brass inlays against a dark ground. Plated variants (gold, pink gold, white rhodium, black rhodium) offer tailored color tones to emphasize the contrast between the inlaid motifs and the background.
