This 3D-printed replica faithfully reproduces an Attic black-figure amphora (Type B) from circa 540 BCE, a large ceramic storage vessel from the workshops of Attica (Athens region) during the late Archaic period. The original, measuring approximately 40.6 cm in height, features symmetrical scenes on both sides: a central horseman flanked by pairs of standing figures, rendered in reserved red-clay panels beneath a lotus-palmette frieze. The imagery is generic, reflecting aristocratic ideals of wealth, military prowess, and elite status rather than specific mythological or historical narratives.
The replica preserves the principal compositional elements, proportions, and decorative details of the original, including the cylindrical neck, ovoid body, footed base, and characteristic Type B form. It is produced using advanced additive manufacturing or lost-wax metal casting processes, depending on the selected material, to achieve high fidelity to the ancient artifact.
Available Materials:
– White Nylon – Polished finish for a smooth tactile surface; the most economical option.
– Black Nylon – Post-printing Color Touch treatment provides scratch and rub resistance, uniform and stable color across production batches, and high-quality surface consistency suitable for multiple identical reproductions.
– Bronze – Produced via lost-wax casting: a 3D-printed wax master is encased in a plaster mold, wax is removed, and liquid bronze is injected to create the final metal object with an elegant, classical appearance.
– Gold Plated Brass – Brass base with applied gold plating for a lustrous, precious-metal effect.
– White Rhodium Plated Brass – Brass base with white rhodium plating for a bright, silver-like sheen and enhanced durability.
Production Notes:
Due to size limitations in the production processes for the selected materials, objects exceeding maximum build dimensions are reproduced at a reduced scale compared to the original 40.6 cm height. All replicas are made to order and inspected for accuracy prior to shipment.
