This 3D-printed replica reproduces the marble statue of Cybele as an enthroned and highly formal divine image. Seated frontally, wrapped in heavy drapery, and crowned with a tall mural headdress, the goddess is presented with the stillness and authority expected of a cult figure. The original sculpture, now in the Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek, is dated to about 60 BCE and comes from Formiae in ancient Latium.
The original statue has lost parts of its hands and some of its attributes, but its identity remains clear. The left hand originally rested on a tympanum, the hand-drum associated with her cult, while the right hand is also incomplete. Even so, the sculpture remains immediately recognizable through its pose, drapery, and crown. This replica preserves the essential form and presence of the original work and offers a reduced-scale version of a Roman cult image with strong sculptural character.
