Barberini Faun – 3D-Printed Replica
This is a 3D-printed reproduction of the Barberini Faun (also known as the Drunken Satyr), a Hellenistic marble sculpture dated to approximately 220 BCE and now held in the Glyptothek, Munich. The figure depicts a youthful satyr reclining on a rock covered with an animal skin, identifiable by the small horse’s tail and ivy wreath. The original work is attributed to the Pergamene school and is noted for its naturalistic anatomy and multi-view composition.
The replica is available in the following materials:
– White nylon: Produced with a polishing process that yields a smoother surface. This is the most economical option.
– Black nylon: Subjected to a post-printing treatment followed by a Color Touch finish. The resulting surface is resistant to scratching and rubbing and suitable for external conditions. Colour consistency is maintained across production batches.
– Bronze, gold-plated brass, and white rhodium-plated brass: Manufactured by metal casting. A 3D-printed wax master model serves as the precise pattern. A plaster mould is formed around the model, after which molten metal is introduced. The wax is removed through a tree-like gating system, producing a finished metal object with a refined surface.
Dimensions of the replicas are as follows:
Nylon versions measure: 7.1 × 10 cm (2.8 × 3.9 in);
Metal versions measure: 2.8 × 4 cm (1.1 × 1.6 in).
Objects exceeding the size limits of the respective production processes are supplied at a reduced scale relative to the original sculpture. In certain cases, hollowing is applied to lower the final price.
