Vendel XIV Helmet – 3D-Printed Replica
This 3D-printed replica represents the Vendel XIV helmet, a richly decorated helmet dating to approximately 560–620 CE. Discovered in a boat grave at Vendel in Uppland, Sweden, the original is an important example of elite warrior equipment from the Vendel Period. Its distinctive bird-shaped nose guard and elaborate ornamentation reflect the craftsmanship and material culture of early medieval Scandinavia.
Available in white nylon, black nylon, bronze, gold-plated brass and white rhodium-plated brass, the replica offers a choice of materials and finishes to suit different preferences.
Materials and finishes
White nylon features a polished surface that provides a smoother feel and a clean, understated appearance.
Black nylon features a uniform black finish. Post-processing improves resistance to scratching and rubbing, while helping maintain consistent colour between production batches.
Bronze is produced using metal casting, creating a solid metal finish with a distinctive appearance.
Gold-plated brass combines a brass base with a gold-plated finish.
White rhodium-plated brass features a rhodium-plated finish with a bright, silvery appearance.
For the metal versions, a 3D-printed master model is used to create a mould. The wax is then replaced by molten metal through the casting process, producing the finished object.
Replica Measurements: Nylon: 5.7 × 8 cm (2.2 × 3.1 in).
For objects that exceed the production limits of a particular material, the replica is produced at a reduced scale compared with the original. Hollowing may also be applied where appropriate to reduce material use and production costs.
