This is a 3D-printed reproduction of a nearly life-size limestone votive statue of a bearded male worshipper, originally carved on Cyprus around 470 BCE. The figure stands frontal and static, wrapped in heavy folds of a himation over an undergarment, wearing a leafy wreath. The face shows almond-shaped eyes and the conventional Archaic smile. The right arm is missing at the shoulder; the left arm is concealed in the mantle. The original measures 155.58 cm in height and comes from the sanctuary at Golgoi–Ayios Photios.
The statue is not a deity. It is a human votary: a permanent stand-in dedicated in a sanctuary so that the donor’s piety and presence would remain after he had left. It belongs to the late Archaic period on Cyprus, when the island’s city-kingdoms stood under Persian overlordship while maintaining close contact with East Greek workshops. The work combines Greek dress and facial convention with distinctly Cypriot material, workshop practice, and the prolonged survival of Archaic traits.
