This high-quality 3D-printed reproduction of a Roman sarcophagus relief panel depicts Apollo and the Nine Muses. The original artifact, dated to approximately 200–210 AD, is a carved marble panel measuring 208 cm in length, 65 cm in height and 12 cm in thickness. It originates from Roman Tarraco and is currently preserved in the Diocesan Museum of Tarragona.
The relief shows the god Apollo, known as Musagetes, positioned at the center with his lyre, accompanied by the nine Muses. Each Muse is represented with her traditional attributes, forming a calm and balanced composition that reflects artistic inspiration and cultural refinement. The replica accurately reproduces the high-relief carving and the arrangement of the figures from the original panel.
The reproduction is available in the following materials:
– White nylon: Polishing is applied to make the surface smoother to the touch. This is the most economical option.
– Black nylon: The post-printing treatment provides resistance to scratching and rubbing. The surface has a uniform color with consistent quality between production batches.
– Bronze, gold plated brass, and white rhodium plated brass: These versions are produced through lost-wax metal casting. A wax master model is created, followed by a plaster mold into which liquid metal is poured, resulting in a precise and elegant metallic finish.
Objects that are too large for the production process in the selected materials are manufactured at a reduced scale compared to the original.
