This 3D-printed replica is based on a large Canosan askos made in southern Italy between about 270 and 200 BCE. The original is known for its elaborate form and decoration, with winged marine horses, Nikai, a Medusa head, a dancing maenad, and projecting horse foreparts creating a strong ceremonial presence. More than a functional vessel, it belongs to the visually ambitious funerary pottery tradition of Canosa.
Available materials:
- White Nylon – polished for a smoother surface and the most affordable option.
- Black Nylon – treated after printing for a uniform finish with good resistance to scratching, rubbing, and outdoor conditions.
- Bronze – cast from a 3D-printed master model for an elegant metal finish.
- Gold Plated Brass – produced through metal casting for a refined and decorative appearance.
- White Rhodium Plated Brass – cast metal with a bright, elegant silver-toned finish.
For some materials, large objects must be produced at a reduced scale rather than at full original size.
