This replica faithfully reproduces the Composite Lion and Bull, a small bronze statuette from ancient northwestern Iran (Luristan region), dated 1500–1000 BCE. The original artifact, now in the Cleveland Museum of Art, depicts a mythical hybrid creature with a single muscular body supporting two heads: a fierce, open-mouthed lion head symbolizing power and aggression, and a calm bull head with prominent horns representing fertility and strength. Incised herringbone patterns adorn the back and legs, and a small attachment hole on the back indicates possible use as a standard finial or votive object in a ritual context.
The 3D-printed version preserves the original’s proportions, stylized forms, and surface details as closely as production allows. Dimensions of the replica approximate the original 11.4 × 9.7 × 14.8 cm unless scaling is required (see below).
Available Materials
– White Nylon
Polished finish for a smooth tactile surface. The most economical option, offering clean detail reproduction at an accessible price.
– Black Nylon
Finished with Color Touch post-printing treatment for enhanced resistance to scratching, rubbing, and external conditions. Provides uniform, stable color across production batches and consistently high surface quality.
– Bronze
Produced via lost-wax metal casting from a 3D-printed wax master model. Liquid bronze is injected into a plaster mold, yielding parts with a classic metallic elegance and precise detail.
– Gold Plated Brass
Brass base with applied gold plating, combining the strength of cast metal with a bright, luxurious gold appearance.
– White Rhodium Plated Brass
Brass base with white rhodium plating, delivering a bright, platinum-like sheen and enhanced corrosion resistance.
Production Notes
Objects exceeding maximum dimensions for certain production processes are reproduced at a reduced scale compared to the original artifact. Hollowing may be applied to larger pieces in selected materials to reduce weight and material cost while maintaining structural integrity and visual fidelity.
