This 3D-printed replica reproduces the Wounded Amazon from Écija, one of the most compelling surviving Roman interpretations of a Classical Greek sculptural type. The original statue, discovered in the Roman city of Colonia Augusta Firma Astigi (modern Écija, Spain), presents a female warrior at the moment between endurance and collapse. Wounded beneath the right breast, she leans against a support with controlled composure, turning injury into a statement of dignity rather than defeat. As a Roman marble copy of a lost 5th-century BC Greek prototype, the figure preserves a celebrated image tradition associated with the wounded Amazon type, long admired for its balance of strength, vulnerability, and idealized form.
This replica retains the essential character of the original sculpture: the poised stance, the raised arm, the short garment slipping from the shoulder, and the restrained expression that gives the figure its distinctive gravity. It offers a clear and faithful reproduction of a sculpture that stands at the intersection of Greek artistic invention and Roman collecting culture.
The replica is available in the following materials:
- Polished White Nylon – The most economical option. The polishing process creates a smoother surface and a clean, refined appearance.
- Black Nylon with Color Touch Finish – Treated after printing to improve resistance to scratching, rubbing, and external conditions. The finish gives the object a uniform black surface and a stable, consistent color across production batches.
- Bronze – Produced through a metal casting process using a 3D-printed wax master model. This method gives the replica an elegant metallic appearance and a precise sculptural finish.
- Gold-Plated Brass – Created through the same casting process, combining accurate form with a warm, refined metal surface.
- White Rhodium-Plated Brass – Also cast from a 3D-printed master model, with a bright silvery finish and an elegant appearance.
Please note that objects too large for the production process in a given material are made at a reduced scale relative to the original.
